Ireland completely outplayed a weak MCC team on a slow wicket. MCC could not cope with Gwynn, Lambert and Harrington and were all out before lunch for 84. Lambert took 5 for 50 in 18 overs unchanged, Gwynn bowled 12 overs and took 2 for 20 while Harrington, coming on for Gwynn clean bowled three batsmen for 12 runs in 6.4 overs. Ireland's innings was dominated by Lucius Gwynn who opened and made 80. It was a brilliant innings. Harrington was second top score - most unusual for him! JM Meldon, HW Jackson and TC Ross all made useful contributions. MCC going in again faced Lambert and Harrington and were 69 for 7 at the close of play. Lambert had taken 4 wickets and Harrington 3.

On the second day the last 3 wickets added 22 and Ireland won by an Innings and 16 runs. Harrington took the last 3 wickets, all clean bowled, and finished with 6 for 24 in 18.3 overs - he had bowled all 6! Lambert in 19 overs had 4 for 59 - 3 clean bowled and one caught at the wicket. The pair had bowled unchanged.
