Edward Barry is somewhat of a mystery. 1926 was the only season in which he appeared for NICC with any regularity, his left arm medium pace helping them to the NCU Cup Final, where they suffered the fate of a number of finalists at this time, being defeated by Willie Andrews' North Down. Barry did not make a significant contribution in the match. He had played several matches for Lisburn the previous year, taking 25 wickets and batting soundly. He was, however, twice selected for Ireland that year. At Oxford v the University he only bowled 5 overs as the hosts ran up 285-5 in a rain-ruined draw. Missing the Welsh match, he returned to face the Scots at Greenock. Ireland were heavily defeated, Barry bowled 19 overs for 44 runs and the wicket of the Scottish captain GLD Hole. In neither match did he make a significant contribution with the bat. He did not play for Ireland again, nor was he seen in Irish cricket after this season.
