Brigade have signed opening bowler Marcello Piedt for the 2024 campaign.

The 31 year-old South African is no stranger to the North West region, having been overseas professional at Burndennett during the 2022 season.

A right-arm pace bowler and hard hitting late middle-order batsman, he has almost 300 professional wickets, including 222 at first-class level.

"For the first time in a number of years, the club has signed an overseas professional for the 2024 season," said the club on their social media account.

"Marcello will be a great addition to the 1st team squad and his coaching skills will enhance the youth academy at the club.

"We look forward to his arrival in April and hope he can help us build on our successes in recent seasons."

The signing of Piedt will help fill the void caused by the departure of successful opening bowler Ryan Macbeth who has joined Lisburn.

In other news, Strabane have re-signed high scoring batsman and pace bowler Nasir Nawaz, while Killyclooney have named South African Rubin Hermann to replace Blayde Capell.

Hermann is a like-for-like replacement being a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper.

He certainly looks to have an excellent pedigree, scoring 95 for South Africa A against India A earlier this month.
