Last year’s finalists in the NW Senior Cup have been drawn together in the semi-final of this year’s competition.

Holders Fox Lodge will have home advantage against Newbuildings on Sunday July 2 with Eglinton at home to Brigade in the other semi-final, a repeat of the 2021 final when Brigade completed a hat-trick of successes in the two-day decider. They also reached the 2020 final but that was a T20 competition at the height of Covid, losing to Donemana.

Andy Britton’s side, however, got their revenge on Saturday, winning the quarter-final at The Holm by three wickets thanks to an undefeated 109 by Cameron Melly as they passed Donemana’s 274 in the 43rd over.

Eglinton hammered Ardmore by 162 runs in their home quarter-final while Newbuildings were almost as convincing, with 141 runs their margin of victory against Strabane. Fox Lodge beat Glendermott by 41 runs at Ballymagorry.

In the Sam Jeffrey Shield, for teams who lost in the first round of the Senior Cup, St Johnston’s 397 for six against Letterkenny was their highest total on the ground. They will have a chance of bettering it in the semi-final with another home tie, against Coleraine.

NW Senior Cup semi-finals: Fox Lodge v Newbuildings, Eglinton v Brigade

Sam Jeffrey semi-finals: Bready v Ballyspallen, St Johnston v Coleraine. All ties on Sunday July 2.
