Fox Lodge Women pulled off a great escape to beat Eglinton and keep alive their title challenge. Chasing 96, Eglinton reached 82 for 3 in the 13th over, before an amazing collapse saw 7 wickets fall for 7 runs to be bowled out for 89.

The Fox Lodge hero was Tanisha Hussain who took 5 wickets, while Lucy Blair took 2 for 0. It was a comeback that pleased skipper Kara Bates.

“We have been playing very good, consistent cricket so I wanted that to continue against a talented Eglinton side.

“They have a lot of girls with so many abilities and after putting up a fight with Bready last week I knew they would provide a real challenge and they certainly did. Their bowling unit put us under severe pressure with early wickets, but we battled back to score 95, which gave us something to defend.

“Thankfully with a bit of tight bowling, five late wickets from Tanisha Hussain and some excellent fielding from the whole team we were able to pull through with points in a real nail-biter.”

The win sees Fox Lodge top the table, ahead of Coleraine, who beat Bonds Glen thanks to Amy Caulfield’s unbeaten 58, and Bready – who also made it three from three – with a seven wickets win at Strabane, thanks to 30 not out from Cody Wallace.
