The Dragons won a last-ball thriller against the Typhoons in their T20 clash at Eglinton.

Needing four to win, Mary Waldron was run-out by Alana Dalzell coming back for the third run that would have secured a super-over.

Batting first the Dragons lost early wickets including internationals Amy Hunter and Cara Murray, as well as overseas player Bella Armstrong.

Captain Leah Paul top-scored with 44 from 37 balls (6 fours), sharing a 5th wicket stand of 51 in 9 overs with Arlene Kelly.

That helped them to 120 for 7 - three wickets for Ireland captain Laura Delany, two for the impressive Lou-lou Little, and one apiece for Freya Sargent and Ava Canning.

Player of the Match Cara Murray took the wickets of Robyn Searle and Delany to leave the match in the balance at 50 for 3 in the 9th.

A fourth wicket stand of 60 in 9 overs between Mary Waldron and Georgia Atkinson (32) reduced the equation to 11 required off 10 balls, but the decisive moment came when Atkinson was run out by a direct hit from Aoife Fisher at mid-on.

Waldron's half-century was in vain in a match that ebbed and flowed.

The Typhoons though have a final chance at redemption, with a winner-takes-all clash at Oak Hill on Monday against the Scorchers.
