Georgina Dempsey took two wickets in a Player of the Match display to help the Typhoons clinch a comfortable 8-wickets win against the Dragons at Wallace Park.

Her 2-21 helped restrict the hosts to 96 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Jaimie-Lee Strang top-scoring with 28, while Cara Murray made an unbeaten 25.

The pair had come together at 40 for 5 and their stand of 56 in 40 balls gave the total some respectability.

There was a wicket apiece too for Ava Canning, Laura Delany, Louise Little and debutant Alice Tector.

Robyn Searle (39*) shared stands of 37 and 44 with Louise Little (21) and Mary Waldron (17) as the Typhoons romped to the win in the 16th over.

The second game of the day produced a similar result as The Scorchers this time beat the Dragons by seven wickets.

Batting first, Amy Hunter dominated an opening stand of 73 with Amy Caulfield (17).

The Irish international hit 7 fours and a six in a fine attacking display, but the rest of the side struggled to inject any impetus into the innings and a final total of 113 for 4 looked light.

Niamh McNulty took two wickets, while there was one apiece for Christina Coulter-Reilly and Sophie MacMahon.

The latter then made an unbeaten 27 to clinch the Player of the Match accolade, with runs once again for Zimbabwe captain Mary-Anne Musonda - who hit 7 boundaries in her 38 from 25 balls.

There were double figure contributions too from Gaby Lewis (18), Lara Maritz (16*) and Coulter-Reilly (15*) as the win was reached with 17 balls to spare.
