Clontarf made it a memorable weekend for their women's/girls section as they edged out Merrion by 6 runs in a thrilling Pilkington Plate final.

The Castle Avenue side looked in trouble batting first as they slipped to 33 for 4 batting first, but were rescued by a fifth wicket stand of 92 between Christina Coulter-Reilly and Anna Kirk.

CCR top-scored with a fine 72 from 78 balls (7 fours), while Kirk also made a half century, hitting four boundaries in her 51 as Clontarf posted 179.

Niamh MacNulty (4-26) was the stand-out bowler for Merrion.

The chase looked to be going to plan for the hosts as Cecelia Joyce (31) and Celeste Raack (30) shared a second wicket stand of 82.

However, Clontarf chipped away and wickets for Mollie Butler (3-36) and Julie McNally (2-15) ensured the narrow win to seal the third trophy of the weekend for the club.
