Gaby Lewis fell eight short of a century on her 100th international appearance in Voorburg yesterday as Ireland eased to an eight-wicket victory over the Netherlands to sweep the three-match ODI series.

Still only 21, Lewis is already just 21 caps behind her illustrious father Alan who captained Ireland in the 1990s, and with contracts beckoning in both The Hundred and the Big Bash she is the shining star in the Ireland batting line-up.

In pursuit of the Dutch total of 185 all out, opener Lewis hit 11 fours and a six before she played back to a slower ball and was lbw for 92 from 98 balls, leaving Amy Hunter to see the Girls in Green home with an unbeaten 53.

Orla Prendergast, bowling for the first time after a long injury lay-off, had broken through in the first over of the hosts’ innings and took another wicket in her second, while skipper Laura Delany finished with figures of 3-26.
