New Zealander Arlene Kelly starred on debut as the Dragons collected their first points of the Super Series with a 64-run win over the Typhoons at Wallace Park.

Kelly struck eight boundaries in her 50, sharing a fourth wicket stand of 104 in 20 overs with YMCA opener Sarah Forbes.

Forbes top scored with 67, having also shared an opening stand of 75 in 15 overs with Leah Paul (43).

There were also runs for Amy Caufield (30^) and Cara Murray (19) as the Dragons posted a challenging 258 for 7 - two wickets apiece for Ava Canning, Georgina Dempsey and Freya Sergeant.

Mary Waldron cleared the ropes twice in a hard hit 43 from just 41 balls to give the Typhoons hope in the chase, but her dismissal to Leah Paul proved decisive in the contest.

There were runs too for Ava Canning (35*), Louise Little (30), Georgina Dempsey (29) and South African international Robyn Searle (24), but with the required rate climbing, scoreboard pressure told as they slid from 160 for 4 to 194 all out.

Kelly took 3 for 35 to claim the Player of the Match accolade, while Irish international Leah Paul's left-arm spin also claimed three scalps.

The Super Series continues with the next match between the Scorchers and Typhoons at Oak Hill on Sunday.
