The Super Series squads have been boosted with the addition of three overseas players.

New Zealander Arlene Kelly will play for the Dragons.

The 28-year old all-rounder has played 68 times for the Auckland Hearts over the last ten years, and also for Kent in 2018.

Kelly, who will play for Malahide during her time in Ireland.

“I know the Dragons have an extremely talented bunch of players and were involved in a thriller last weekend.," said Kelly.

"I've kept an eye on the Super Series over the past couple of seasons and it's been fantastic to see the game grow and I'm really looking forward to being involved this summer.”

South African international Robyn Searle will link up with the Typhoons.

Searle, who has featured in the South African T20 side, is the captain of provincial side the Titans.

She made her debut for her country in 2018 against the West Indies.

The 24 year-old is a right-handed batter and wicketkeeper, and earlier this year was named the Titans Women’s T20 Player of the Year.

The Johannesburg-born Searle will look to familiarise herself with Irish conditions ahead of South Africa’s six-match series with Ireland in June.

Searle will also play for The Hills.

“I decided to come to Ireland because I wanted to get some quality game time during our South African winter. I’m also aware that getting exposure to different conditions will be beneficial to my game," said Searle.

"When The Hills Cricket Club approached me to come over it was an opportunity I couldn't really turn down.

"It’s my first time playing for a team overseas and I’m hoping that it will push me out of my comfort zone and help to grow my game.

“I'm really excited to be here for the Irish summer. I'm hoping to contribute as much as possible with the bat to both The Hills and the Typhoons. I'm looking forward to playing with, and against the Irish international women as there’s lots that I can learn from them. It’s going to be a great challenge."

The Scorchers have welcomed back Zimbabwean-born Australian Bhavi Devchand as their overseas player.

Devchand was part of the Scorchers squad that finished second behind the Dragons in 2019.

She plays for Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), and also represented the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in 2020 in Australia.

The leg-spinning allrounder also spent a year both playing, and coaching with Gloucestershire in 2016.

“I'm really excited to be back in Ireland and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to once again play for the Scorchers," said Devchand.

"The last time I was here was three years ago - it's brilliant to see how far the female game has come since then.

“It's very clear to see the improvements in the Super Series competition since I played in 2019. The teams are training as elite cricketers now, preparing well and it will be a hugely competitive series.

“One of the best parts of playing overseas is getting to meet new people and learn from them, so I'm certainly looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates.

"There are so many experienced players to learn from and hopefully I can also give back and help some of the younger players coming through and keep growing on and off the field.

"I'm also very excited to play alongside Gaby Lewis and Rachel Delaney, as I’ve spent some time with them in Australia, however, we've never had the opportunity to play on the same team.”

The next game in the Super Series is the meeting of the Dragons and Typhoons at Lisburn on Sunday.
