Garth heroics in vain as rain wins day

Kim GarthKim Garth

16 year old Kim Garth's opening salvo in which she removed the Bangladesh top four proved to be in vain as yet again the weather proved to be the winner in Dublin.

Garth claimed 4 for 11 as Bangladesh were left tettering on 22 for 4 in pursuit of a DL adjusted target of 150 in 45 overs.

Earlier Clare Shillington made it back-to-back half centuries as she hit six boundaries in her 51.

Shillington shared in an opening stand of 64 with Cecelia Joyce (26), while Kim Garth chipped in with 21 as Ireland made 145 for 9 in their rain interrupted innings.

Khadiza Tul Kubra (3-23) and Rahman (2-12) were the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The sides will again be joined by Pakistan for a Twenty20 series at Clontarf next week.

Before then Ireland travel to England to play Gloucestershire in a play-off as they attempt to gain promotion.
