West Indies win Twenty20 clash

A quickfire 90 from just 48 balls by Stephanie Taylor was the deciding factor as the West Indies beat Ireland by 75 runs in their T20 clash at Rush on Friday.

Taylor took advantage of the compact ground to strike 12 fours and 2 sixes, sharing stands of 58 with Juliana Nero (20), and 108 with Stacy-Ann King. King hit 5 sixes and 3 fours as she reached 52 from just 34 balls.

They finished on an imposing 184 for 4 in their 20 overs, with Isobel Joyce (2-27), the pick of the Irish attack.

In reply Danielle Small (2-20) removed both openers in quick succession, but Isobel Joyce with 20 and Cecelia Joyce with 41 from 40 balls, ensured Ireland got over the 100 mark.

They made 109 for 7, with Eimear Richardson (14) the only other player to reach double figures.

Kirbyina Taylor (3-20) was the most successful of the West Indies attack.
