T20 International, Bready, 21 June 2015

There was considerable frustration at Bready yesterday as no play was possible in the fourth T20 International between Ireland and Scotland - for for the second time in four days, not a single ball was bowled, despite having the toss on both occasions.

Frequent showers, coupled with umpires concern over damp patches on the edge of the square, meant play was called off at 16:45.

Ireland had hoped to gain a consolation victory over the Scots, who had won both Thursday's and Saturday's matches by six wickets.

Cricket Ireland President Dr Murray Power presents Series trophy to Scotland captain Preston Mommsen

Not surprisingly Scotland's Matthew Cross was named man of the series after his match-winning exploits. He received his trophy from NW President John McMillan, while Cricket Ireland President Dr Murray presented the series trophy to Scotland captain Preston Mommsen.

The series leaves Ireland with plenty to ponder ahead of the World Twenty20 qualifiers.

They missed their big guns much more than Scotland did and new coach John Bracewell will be relieved to see the likes of captain William Porterfield and Paul Stirling back in the squad.

Ireland now have just two more matches before the qualifiers get under way. They face the UAE and Oman on July 6 and 7.
