Ireland overcame Scotland to claim the Celtic Series 2-0 with one game left to play.

It was a far nervier finish than Monday's affair, but again Ireland relied on a fifty from Kevin O'Brien and some aggressive seam bowling by Max Sorensen and Craig Young.

Another delayed start meant Ireland opted to bowl and had three Scotsmen out after just 13 balls of the innings. Sorensen commanded real zip and looks to be returning to his best form, while Young again showed impressive commitment.

The Hills man had his best ODI figures of 4-40, and Young continued his wicket taking form with 3-39. Richie Berrington held the Scots together, making his first ODI century but 221 looked far short of a challenging total.

Ireland conspired to make it so, however, with some poor shot selection seeing wickets fall in clusters. O'Brien (67) made his first back-to-back fifties in seven years but with seven wickets down his team still needed 36 to win.

The Fingallians came to the rescue, with John Mooney (27 not out) and Sorensen (14no) settling the crowd's nerves and winning with more than five overs to spare.
