Sadly a brilliant spell of weather broke and caused a "bowl-out" in the two middle day matches in this tournament. In the "bowl-out" Scotland struck four times in eight Ireland only twice in nine. Scotland now had two wins. Only Ireland or England could equal that on the third day. The rules say that if teams finish equal in wins then the result of the match between those two teams would determine the championship. As Scotland had by now beaten England and Ireland they were winners before the last day started.

Molins was dropped as it was manifest he had played the previous day while still not recovered from a pulled leg muscle suffered in the match at Arundel. Gillespie replaced him. Rain delayed play until 2.26 p.m. and the match began as 42 overs per side rather than 55.

The pitch was damp but hard and conditions humid when Ireland sent Scotland in. The ball was always on top and five Irish bowlers were used in bowling 25.1 overs for 77 runs. Harrison was held back to bowl the last stint but he never got on due to rain. Philip and Patterson moved carefully at a rate of three per over on average, with Patterson the more aggressive. Eagleson bowled six overs for 14 and was replaced by Graham. Philip had an early life when three at 14. Ogilby dropped him off Patterson.

Graham's second over (the 15th) brought a wicket. Patterson backed away and tried to hit over the top and was caught at mid-on. 44-1-26. With Reifer in Doak came on to partner Graham. 50 was up in 17 overs. In the 20th over Doak had Philip stumped off a leg side wide. 59-2-22. Salmond came next and was dropped by Ogilby off Graham before he scored. In six overs the score was advanced by 18 when rain came. The match would have been very interesting if played out.

In the bowl out Harrison and Graham struck once each. Doak and Eagleson failed twice and Benson once. For Scotland Govan and Reifer struck once to give Scotland a 2-1 lead. Then Allingham scored with both his shots.
