This was a different match to the previous day's. The pitch was poor and got worse when England Amateur batted. Whoever won the toss would probably win and that was Ireland. The whole effort with bat, ball and in the field was better for Ireland today.

Ireland's start was again slow and sluggish with little attempt at quick singles. Roshier and Hackett (who was too ill to play in the first match) opened the bowling, Roshier's first over being 9 balls (with 3 wides). In 9 overs only 15 were on the board when Rea hit Hackett to mid-off. This was Rea's first single figure score in 7 innings. 30 only came up in 15 overs. In that over, bowled by Arnold, Warke was caught behind. 5 runs later Harrison's ill-luck continued. Lewis hit Hussain's second ball back. Hussain touched it into the stumps and Harrison was run out backing up.

When he was 66 Lewis drove a ball back to Hussain who claimed a low catch but the Umpires, having consulted, gave Lewis not out. Then Lewis and C McCrum put on 89 in 71 minutes and 20 overs straddling lunch. 50 was up in 24 overs and by lunch (taken after 30 overs) the score had moved to 86. Lewis was 32 including a 6 off Hussain, and C McCrum was 18. 100 came up in 33.3 overs. Lewis completed his 50 off 72 deliveries and, without addition, hoisted French to deep mid-on. 124-4-50.

Curry wasted no time, hitting his second ball for 4. He and C McCrum added 20 in 3 overs. Roshier came back and had C McCrum caught and bowled with the score at 148 for 42 off only 46 balls. Curry did even better, 29 being scored in 24 balls. He then called Patterson for a run to mid-off. Patterson refused and Curry had to go. Patterson was bowled at 170 and Dunlop LBW at 178. Jackson and P McCrum got the last 10. The match was reduced to 50 overs each side because of the slow first match bowling rate with the visitors having to fly home after the match. Hussain did not have yesterday's success and Roshier emerged with figures of 3-32.

England (Amateur) went in to bat at 2:50 PM. Dean hit P McCrum for 2 fours in his first over but was caught at mid-off in his third when hitting somewhat across the line. Waterton had been LBW in McCrum's second over so now the score was 10-2. In his sixth over Folland was caught at the wicket. The score was now 23-3 and probably the best batsmen were out. P McCrum was rested after 7 overs and in fact did not bowl again. Patel and Leiper came together and by tea had gone past 50 (in 19.3 overs) and were up to 66 in 25 overs. Patel was now 23 and Leiper 18.

Harrison decided the match in his third over and the fourth after tea. The fourth wicket pair put on 56 in 23 overs when Harrison got both within 3 deliveries. Patel (34) pulled to Nelson at long leg and Leiper was well stumped on the leg side. 79-5 was now the score. Four more wickets fell. Harrison got 2 and there were 2 run outs effected by Patterson and Dunlop. At 116-9 in 42.4 overs rain came and Ireland won on a faster scoring rate per over, 3.76 to England (Amateur) 2.71. P McCrum had figures of 3-17 in 7 overs. Harrison had 4-24 in 9.4 overs. The English seemed to give up on this poor pitch.
