Craven Gentlemen drew with Ireland
2 Day, Muirfield, 23 June 1947
Scorecard
Derek Scott

Herbert Sutcliffe, the former English opening batsmen, captained the Craven Gentlemen team whose first six batsmen by even batting were responsible for their team score of 154. Boucher bowled very well to take 7-58 in 26 overs. He was supported by good fielding. The batting was poor and before the close seven wickets had fallen for 88 runs - the best stand being that for the first wicket between Pollock and Posnett of 33. On the following day the remaining three wickets put on 46 runs - the last wicket being responsible for 39 of these. Crothers, wicket-keeper and number 11, had the honour of being highest scorer with a hard hit 25.

The home side made 148 before declaring their second innings closed. A feature of the innings was a bright partnership of 59 by King and Sutcliffe and Boucher's bowling was again destructive. Ireland had only 90 minutes to get the 169 runs required for victory and were 98-4 at the end. Boucher again showed what a fine all-rounder he is by making 36 not out including six fours.
