In these days of universal T20I status, the European international season is an extended one, and Gibraltar are showing that by hosting three two match T20I series between 30th September and 15th October.

The first of these took place yesterday with two matches against Estonia at the Europa Sports Complex. Gibraltar won the toss in the opening fixture and asked their opponents to bat first. A partnership of 83 for the third wicket between Aditya Panwar and Ben Jones provided the backbone to their innings, with the partnership ending when Panwar was bowled for 62 by Richard Hatchman.

Jones went on to score 40 before he was run out two balls from the end of the innings, and the final total for Estonia was 149-6.

Louis Bruce was the top scorer in the Gibraltar reply, scoring 52 from 48 balls before he fell in the 17th over, the fifth man out with the score on 118. Two wickets followed in the next over but James Fitzgerald guided the tail through to victory with an unbeaten 28 from 10 balls to secure a two wicket win with a ball to spare.

Estonia won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second game. Knocks of 48 from 20 balls by Kayron Stagno and 46 from 33 balls by Iain Latin helped Gibraltar score 159 before their last wicket fell from the first ball of their final over. Kalle Vislapuu and Aditya Panwar both took three wickets for Estonia with the latter conceding just three runs.

A rapid innings of 82 from only 33 balls by Bilal Masud helped Estonia chase down their target in 16.2 overs. Ali Masood and Arslan Amjad also contributed with 27 and 37 not out respectively as they completed an eight wicket win to square the series.

Estonia will be over the border in Spain for Group C of the European Championship T10 tournament starting tomorrow where they will play Denmark, Italy, Serbia and Sweden. Gibraltar aren't involved in that tournament but have two more two-match T20I series at home in October. The first of those takes place on Thursday against Serbia and then they will host Luxembourg on the 15th.
