The men's cricket tournament at the Asian Games continued yesterday with Hong Kong and Thailand both playing their first games of the tournament.

Hong Kong took on Cambodia in the first match of the day, winning the toss and asking their opponents to bat first. Only two batters were able to reach double figures for the Cambodians as they were bowled out for 70, losing their last five wickets for nine runs in 3.4 overs. Nasrulla Rana was the pick of the Hong Kong bowlers with 4-7.

Hong Kong had little trouble chasing down their target, doing so in 5.5 overs to win by nine wickets. Babar Hayat top scored with an unbeaten 40 from only 12 balls whilst Nizakat Khan was also not out for 34. The defeat eliminated Cambodia from quarter final contention.

In the afternoon game, Singapore won the toss and chose to bat first against Thailand, scoring 152-8 with Chetan Suryawanshi's 53 from 36 balls their top score. Chanchai Pengkumta was the leading wicket-taker for Thailand, taking 4-22.

Only two batters reached double figures in Thailand's reply as they were bowled out for only 53, losing by 99 runs. Aahan Gopinath Achar was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for only eight runs.

After a rest day today play will resume on Sunday when the openeing match will be Nepal v Maldives in what will be an elimination game for the quarter finals. The afternoon game between Hong Kong and Japan is also a knockout game with the winners joining the five full members in the last eight.
