UAE and Thailand have qualified for the global qualifier for the next women's T20 World Cup after they reached the final of the Asian regional qualifier this past week in Malaysia.

Eleven teams took part in the pathway. UAE and Nepal progressed from Group A which also featured Bahrain, Bhutan, Malaysia and Qatar, whilst Thailand and Hong Kong progressed from Group B with China, Kuwait and Myanmar making up the rest of that group.

In the first semi-final, UAE scored 141-4 against Hong Kong with Esha Oza contributing 85 and Kavisha Egodage an unbeaten 42. Maryam Bibi top scored with 34 in the Hong Kong reply but they were bowled out for 84, losing by 57 runs and securing UAE their place in the global qualifier.

In the other semi-final, Thailand batted first against Nepal and were kept to 105-2 from their 20 overs, Nannapat Koncharoenkai top scoring with an unbeaten 59. That total proved to be enough though as they bowled Nepal out for just 59 to win by 46 runs and reach the global qualifier. Thipatcha Putthawong took 3-5 with Onnicha Kamcomphu taking 3-6.

In the final, the UAE batted first and were restricted to 70-9 from their 20 overs, Onnicha Kamcomphu taking 3-6 and Nattaya Boochatham taking 2-11. Boochatham took 18 wickets at an incredibly low average of 2.55 in the tournament. UAE then showed that the loss of Mahika Gaur to England won't impact them too much by bowling Thailand out for 64 for a surprise 6 run win. Kavisha Egodage was the pick of the bowlers with 3-7 whilst Vaishnave Mahesh took 3-19.
