Vanuatu have given themselves a boost ahead of the EAP pathway event for the next women's T20 World Cup after a 2-0 series win over Japan in the Vanuatu capital this past week.

Japan were bowled out for 65 in the first game on Monday with Ahilya Chandel the only batter to reach double figures. Vicky Mansale was the pick of the Vanuatu bowlers with 3-16. Rachel Andrew then scored an unbeaten 44 from 37 balls as the home team chased down their target in 11.3 overs to win by 8 wickets.

The second game on Wednesday was reduced to a ten over affair, with Vanuatu batting first and scoring 61-5, Valenta Langiatu scoring 24. Japan batted out their overs in reply but fell 15 runs short, scoring 46-8 with Rachel Andrew taking three wickets for just seven runs.

Both teams take part in the EAP qualifier that began today at the same venue. Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Samoa are the other participating teams.
