Scotland have secured their place in next year's Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka after a win over Italy in their final game yesterday.

After a delayed start, Scotland batted first in a contest reduced to 45 overs. Openers Jamie Dunk and Alec Price scored 96 and 67 before fifth change bowler Gurpreet Singh tore through their line up, taking seven wickets for 25 runs as Scotland were bowled out for 229.

However, only two Italian batters were able to reach double figures in their reply as they were bowled out for 78, Scotland winning by 151 runs. Adi Hegde was the pick of the bowlers with 5-15.

The match between rivals Jersey and Guernsey was reduced to a 20-over affair, with Guernsey batting first and scoring 111-6, Harry Duke top scoring with 37. Charlie Brennan then scored an unbeaten 56 from 42 balls as Jersey completed a four wicket win with 11 balls to spare.

Despite their defeat, Guernsey remained ahead of them on net run rate and will be pleased with their second place finish with Jersey in third.

The match between Norway and hosts Netherlands saw no play at all, with the one point for Norway ensuring that they finished fifth ahead of Italy. Netherlands finished fourth, a disappointing result for one of the pre-tournament favourites on home soil.
