The Netherlands kept alive their hopes of qualifying for this year's men's Cricket World Cup in India after a big win over Oman today in Harare.

Put into bat, the Dutch started with a big 117 run partnership in the first 22 overs - interupted by a shower that reduced the match to a 48-over contest - between Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd which ended when O'Dowd was bowled by Ayaan Khan. This brought out Wesley Barresi who put on another 80 for the second wicket with Singh before Singh was dismissed for 110, his maiden ODI century.

The score at that point was 197-2 after 36 overs and the Dutch really upped the scoring rate from then on. Barresi scored 97 from 65 balls, Bas de Leede clubbed 39 from 19 balls and Saqib Zulfiqar scored 33 from 17. Their final total from their 48 overs was 362-7, their second highest ODI total behind the famous win over West Indies last week.

Oman's target was adjusted upwards by just one run by DLS, and they were ahead of the Dutch in the early going but were unable to have any partnership really kick on and stay in for any significant period. That was until Shoaib Khan joined Ayaan Khan, with the pair putting on 112 before Shoaib was out for 46.

Bad light eventually brought an end to the Omani run chase after 44 overs with Ayaan Khan unbeaten on 105 from 92 balls, his maiden ODI century. DLS at that point required them to be on 321 and they had scored 246-6, therefore losing by 74 runs.

Dutch attention now turns to tomorrow's Scotland v Zimbabwe match in Bulawayo. If Scotland win then the Netherlands have a chance at qualifying if they beat the Scots in their next match, on Thursday. Oman's next match will be against the other team with no Super Six wins - the West Indies.
