Bahrain have won a T20I quadrangular series in Malaysia after beating the previously unbeaten hosts in yesterday's final.

The tournament started on 15th December with the hosts recording a narrow 11 run win over Bahrain. They scored 161-8 batting first thanks to Zubaidi Zulkifle's 73. Imran Anwar scored 44 from 28 balls in Bahrain's reply but they could only manage 150-9 in reply. Singapore's torrid time since the departure of Tim David continued that afternoon (and throughout the series) as they scored 130-7 against Qatar who chased down their target in 14.4 overs with Imal Liyanage scoring 60 from only 36 balls.

On the second day, Qatar scored 126-9 from their 20 overs against the hosts. That they made that much was thanks to number 7 Valeed Veetil who scored 53 to help his team recover from 44-6. Malaysia had little trouble chasing down their target, winning by 8 wickets with 5.2 overs to spare. That afternoon, Bahrain and Singapore played out a thrilling tie with both scoring 144 before Bahrain triumphed in the Super Over.

After Saturday's rest day, play resumed on Sunday with a match betwen old rivals Malaysia and Singapore the headline feature. Malaysia batted first and scored 207-3 with Virandeep Singh scoring 71 from 42 balls and Syed Aziz clubbing 59 from only 23 balls. Singapore could only manage 87 in reply, losing by 120 runs. Earlier that day, Bahrain scored 164-9 from their 20 overs with Junaid Aziz top scoring with 52 from 29 balls. Muhammad Tanveer scored an unbeaten 88 from 46 balls in Qatar's reply, but the team still fell short on 151-9.

The next day, Singapore scored 140-6 against Qatar, who chased down their target in 15 overs to win by 8 wickets. Imal Liyanage scored an unbeaten 58 from 39 balls and Mohammed Rizlan scored 56 from 31. Bahrain scored 179-5 from their 20 overs against Malaysia that afternoon but the home team were able to chase it down thanks to a 156 run partnership between Zubaidi Zulkifle and Virandeep Singh. The former scored 65 from 38 balls whilst Singh top scored with 96 from 54 balls in the seven wicket win.

Tuesday was a rest day and play resumed on Wednesday with Bahrain bowling Singapore out for 168. Abdul Rahman Bhadelia scpred 67 and Aman Desai scored 64 but only one other player reache double figures. Bahrain chased down their target in 18 overs to win by six wickets. The afternoon match between Malaysia and Qatar was washed out with Malaysia on 61-1 after batting first.

On Thursday, Malaysia thumped Singapore, scoring 223-4  with Ahmaf Fiaz top scoring with 86 from 50 balls. Singapore were bowled out for 80, losing by 143 runs, with only one batter scoring double figures. The afternoon match was abandoned after 13.4 overs with Bahrain on 97-4 against Qatar.

With Malaysia unbeaten after the group stage, they would have been considered favourites in the final yesterday, but they were surprised by Bahrain. Batting first the hosts scored 153-9 but Bahrain were able to chase down their target with two balls to spare with Sohail Ahmed leading the way with an unbeaten 66 from 44 balls.

Earlier, Singapore scored 164-6 against Qatar in the third place play-off with Manpreet Singh scoring 71 from only 33 balls and Aman Desai scoring 57. Mohammed Rizlan top scored for Qatar in the run chase with an unbeaten 72 from 25 balls, whilst Imal Liyanage chipped in with 50 from 41 balls. Qatar chased down their target in just 14 overs to win by nine wickets.
