Scotland's place in the World Cup Qualifier has been secured with four games to spare as they romped to an eight wicket win over Nepal today in Windhoek.

Nepal captain Rohit Paudel won the toss and chose to bat first at the United Club ground and it was the skipper who top scored with 47. However no other Nepali batter was able to make any sort of significant contribution as they were bowled out for 119. Seven bowlers were used by Scotland captain Richie Berrington with six of them taking a wicket.

Scotland started their run chase in rapid fashion with Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey scoring 43 in the first four overs before Coetzer was out for 16. Another 43 run partnership - this time between Munsey and Christopher McBride - came from the next six overs with Munsey the next man out having scored 45 from 28 balls.

There were no more wickets as McBride finished the innings unbeaten on 46 as he and Berrington completed the eight wicket win in just 17 overs.

Scotland still have one more tri-series to come - coincidentally against these same opponents - in Nepal in February, but the main job has been done. Whilst promotion to the ODI Super League is now not on the cards after that tournament was dumped by the ICC, but Scotland will no doubt be aiming to lay down a marker for the World Cup Qualifier by finishing in top place.
