Scotland's trip to Namibia for their penultimate CWC League 2 tri-series took a negative turn today in Windhoek after a fightback from the hosts led to a three wicket defeat.

Scotland were put into bat and lost Kyle Coetzer from the first ball of the match when Ruben Trumpelmann trapped him lbw. Trumpelmann also removed the other opener George Munsey but not before he'd scored 51.

Top scorer for the visitors was Brandon McMullen who continued his good start to his ODI career by scoring 56. There wasn't any other contribution of note in the Scotland innings though as they were bowled out for 208. Ruben Trumpelmann finished with figures of 4-37.

Both Namibian openers were removed cheaply by Brandon McMullen and the home team found themselves firmly on the back foot after the first half of their innings as they had only managed 111 by the time the seventh wicket fell in the 25th over.

But number nine batter Pikky Ya France - who had previously scored only 57 runs in 12 ODIs - fought back with Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton. The pair put on 99 for the eighth wicket with Loftie-Eaton scoring 67 and Ya France scoring 52, almost doubling his ODI career tally in a single innings.

Despite this defeat, Scotland can still secure a place in the global qualifier before the end of this tri-series. Should Nepal lose either of their last two matches in this tri-series - against Namibia on Wednesday and against Scotland on Thursday - Scotland's place in the qualifier will be assured.
