Craig Ervine and Sikander Raza showed all their experience to carry Zimbabwe to the Super 12s with a five-wicket win over Scotland in the penultimate over.

Chasing 133, Brad Wheal and Josh Davey both struck in their first overs to have Zimbabwe wobbling on 7 for 2.

However, Ervine was solidity personified, and despite the loss of Sean Williams for 7, he and Raza produced a match winning stand of 64 in seven overs to all but settle the contest.

Raza - the leading run-scorer in the tournament - blasted 3 fours and 2 sixes in his 40 from 23 balls, while Ervine proved the perfect foil, content to play the anchor role.

The skipper hit six fours in his top score of 58 from 54 balls, before perishing with the finishing line in sight.

There was no late drama as Milton Shumba (11*) and Ryan Burl (9*) eased their team over the line with nine balls to spare.

Scotland's 132 for 6 had looked well under par, as they struggled for boundaries once the power play finished.

Indeed no boundaries came for 63 balls, as Tendai Chatara (2-14), Richard Ngavara (2-28), Williams (0-19) and Raza (1-20) squeezed the life out of the Scottish innings.

George Munsey top-scored with 54 (7 fours) but it came at little better than a run-a-ball, while Calum MacLeod's 25 occupied 26 deliveries.

Disappointment for Scotland who at the halfway point of Ireland's innings on Wednesday looked set for the Super 12s, but who now face a qualifying tournament in Ireland next summer.

Zimbabwe are next in action on Monday when they face neighbours South Africa in Hobart.
