The Netherlands clinched the European Cricket Championship in Spain as they beat holders England by four wickets in the last over.

Chasing 100, the Dutch chase got off to a dreadful start with the run out of Clayton Floyd first ball, and Musa Ahmed going cheaply.

Boris Gorlee hit a quick 32 from 18 balls (4 fours, 1 six), adding 43 with Saqib Zulfiqar (14) to get the innings back on track, but their dismissals in successive deliveries put the final in the balance.

However, with 45 needed from 23 balls, Ryan Klein (19) hit three sixes in four balls, adding 39 in two overs with skipper Sebastian Braat (18) to make the decisive partnership.

Five were needed from the last over, but just one ball was needed as Shirase Rasool knocked one out of the park.

England were restricted to 99 for 8, with three wickets for Saqib Zulfiqar, and Ryan Klein's 1 for 8.

Hosts Spain finished third, Scotland fourth, and Italy fifth.
