CWC League 2 rumbles on with the latest leg of the tournament taking place in Aberdeen over the next week, with UAE and USA joining the hosts.

Scotland got their campaign for this leg off to a great start against the UAE today at Mannofield Park, the ground that many years ago hosted Don Bradman’s last match in the British Isles.

With Richie Berrington unavailable due to injury, Matthew Cross is taking the captain’s armband, and he opted to have his team bat first after UAE captain Ahmed Raza called incorrectly at the toss.

Openers Kyle Coetzer and Craig Wallace put on 52 before the former was out for 23, whilst Wallace went on to score 35. Calum MacLeod was Scotland’s top scorer with 76, and Michael Leask contributed 39 from 25 balls as Scotland scored 262 before the final wicket fell seven balls from the end of their innings. Zahoor Khan was the pick of the UAE bowlers with 4-39.

Rohan Mustafa’s unbeaten 65 was the top score in the UAE reply but the only other contributions of note came from Chundangapoyil Rizwan (32) and Basil Hameed (34). Mark Watt took 4-30 and Chris Sole took 3-39 as the UAE were bowled out for 198, losing by 64 runs.

Scotland will now have two days rest before their next match which will be against USA on Saturday. USA will play UAE tomorrow.
