Jersey are back on top in CWC Challenge League B after a thumping win over Bermuda today at Grainville.

Bermuda won the toss and put the home team into bat only to watch as they racked up a massive 381-5. Asa Tribe top scored with 101 from 87 balls but he wasn’t alone with Harrison Carlyon (72 from 53), Nicholas Greenwood (64 from 62) and Josh Lawrenson (75 from 73) all scoring over 50.

Jonty Jenner fell just short of the half-century mark with 49 from only 23 balls as the entire top 7 all scored at a strike rate of at least 100.

Bermuda were kept to 175-9 from their 50 overs and lost by 206 runs. Jersey used seven bowlers, with six of them taking at least one wicket.

In the other match today at Farmers, a knock of 113 by Rakep Patel led Kenya to 295-7 in their innings against Italy. Irfan Karim (40) and Tanzeel Sheikh (39) also contributed, whilst Harry Manenti was the pick of the Italian bowlers with 3-79.

Dinuka Samarawickrama top scored in the Italian run chase with 62, but those runs came off 95 balls as the Kenyan attack kept the run rate in check, with only Jaspreet Singh (56 from 39 balls) able to break the shackles. They were bowled out for 271 to lose by 24 runs, Viraj Patel taking 3-40.

Tomorrow is a rest day and when play resumes on Wednesday Jersey will be looking to beat one of their rivals for the top spot when they play Hong Kong. The other team towards the top end of table, Uganda, are also in action, playing rivals Kenya.
