After just two rounds of matches in the European Under-19 Division Two championship, we already know the identity of two of the semi-finalists.

Hosts Guernsey took on Germany and bowled them out for 135. Openers Fintan Ridgwick and Charles Birch then put on 111 before Ridgwick was out for 52. Birch followed soon afterwards for 59 but they had done enough to secure an eight wicket win in just 21.3 overs.

It was another tough day for France, following yesterday’s 32 against Guernsey by being bowled out for just 34 by Italy. Gurpreet Singh was the pick of the Italian bowlers with 6-13. Italy chased down their target in only 6.2 overs, winning by ten wickets.

In the other group, Norway batted first against the Isle of Man and scored 101, Dollin Jansen and Fraser Clarke both taking three wickets. Jansen went for just seven runs and then top scored in the Manx reply with an unbeaten 61 from just 36 balls to help his team complete an eight wicket win in just 10.3 overs.

The contest between Denmark and Sweden was the highest scoring game on the day. Denmark batted first and scored 265-8 from their 50 overs, Mateen Sarwar’s 79 the top score. Sweden were bowled out for 244 in reply, Ahsan Rahman taking 4-48.
