Denmark and hosts Canada both completed a second win in two days as CWC Challenge League A continued yesterday in King City, Ontario.

The home side won the toss and chose to bat first in their contest against Malaysia. Innings of 49 by Rayyan Pathan and an unbeaten 57 from Harsh Thaker helped them post 239-8 from their 50 overs.

Only two of Malaysia’s batters were able to reach double figures in their reply, Sharvin Muniandy top scoring with 48. Saad Bin Zafar took 5-31 as the home side bowled Malaysia out for 118, securing a 121 run win.

Denmark were put into bat after Qatar won the toss. Knocks of 69 from Hamid Shah and 63 from Saif Ahmed helped them post 267-7 from their 50 overs. Muhammad Murad was the pick of Qatar’s bowlers with 4-62.

In Qatar’s reply Muhammad Tanveer top scored with 80 and Imal Liyanage scored 52 but there was only one other double digit score as they were bowled out for 180, losing by 87 runs. Saif Ahmed completed a fine all-round performance by taking 4-29 and was the obvious candidate for player of the match.

Today is a rest day and play resumes tomorrow with Malaysia playing their old rivals Singapore and Qatar taking on Vanuatu.
