After Friday’s rest day, play resumed in this second leg of CWC Challenge League A at King City, just north of Toronto.

Hosts Canada were in action against Singapore and put them into bat after winning the toss. Anish Paraam’s 57 and Rohan Rangarajan’s 49 were the only scores of note as the visitors were only able to score 188 before they were bowled out four deliveries short of their full quota of 50 overs.

An unbeaten 100 from 108 balls by Canadian captain Navneet Dhaliwal was the key in the run chase for the hosts, and they reached their required total in the 42nd over to win by six wickets.

In the other match, Vanuatu won the toss and put Denmark into bat, then watched as the opening pair of Nicolaj Laegsgaard and Hamid Shah put on 121 before the former was out for 69. The Danish captain batted on and scored 85, helping his team record 285-8 from their 50 overs.

The Danish openers then also did the business with the ball in Vanuatu’s reply. Laegsgaard took 4-26 and Shah took 3-63 as Vanuatu were bowled out for 158, losing by 127 runs.

Play continues later today with hosts Canada playing Malaysia and Denmark coming up against Qatar.
