When Gavin Main dismissed Wednesday’s centurion Finn Allen for 6 in the third over, Scotland will no doubt have been hoping for an easier time of it in this second men’s T20I at the Grange.

However, Allen’s dismissal brought former Hong Kong international Mark Chapman to the crease and he proceeded to smash the Scottish attack for 83 from 44 balls before he was finally dismissed by Chris Greaves.

Michael Bracewell scored his runs even quicker, clubbing an unbeaten 61 from just 25 balls as his team scored 254-5 from their 20 overs, the eighth highest total in men’s T20Is.

Scotland batted out their overs in reply and scored 152-9, losing by 102 runs. Jimmy Neesham took two wickets for nine runs in his only over, whilst Michael Rippon, whose last international match was against New Zealand for the Netherlands, took 2-37 on his New Zealand debut.

The Scottish leg of New Zealand’s European tour ends on Sunday with a one-off ODI. New Zealand will then travel across the North Sea for two T20Is in Voorburg.
