A powerful batting display by CIYMS saw them beat CSNI by 16 runs to clinch the T20 Cup and go forward to represent the NCU in the All-Ireland T20 semi-finals next month.

A rain affected final saw the Belmont side’s top four all play remarkably similar innings, with the temp set by Ross Adair and Chris Dougherty in an opening stand of 74 in 6.5 overs.

Adair hit 4 fours and a six in his 19-ball 31, while ‘Doc’ top-scored with 40 in 24 balls (5 fours, 1 six).

The boundary blitz continued as John Matchett and Jason van der Merwe added 80 in 8 overs, with Matchett clearing the ropes four times in his 39 from 25 balls.

Van Der Merwe was no slouch either, hitting 2 sixes and fours in his 38 from only 22 balls.

CIYMS ended on 175 for 7 in 17 overs, with Luke Georgeson (2-57) and James West (2-33) each taking two wickets.

DLS adjusted the target to 185 in 17 overs, which was then revised to a daunting 101 off 8 with more rain.

Despite the best efforts of Georgeson, who hit 3 sixes in his 27, and Marc Ellison’s 24 from 15 balls, CSNI were always struggling to get near the required rate, ending on 84 for 6.

Graham Kennedy (2-27) picked up two wickets, while there was one apiece for Keith Dudgeon, Jacob Mulder, John Matchett, and Ross Adair in a deserved victory.
