Namibia have bounced back after yesterday’s defeat against Scotland by beating Nepal today in Ayr.

Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and chose to bat first at the Cambusdoon New Ground with openers Lo-handre Louwrens and Divan la Cock putting on 31 before the former was caught by Karan KC off his own bowling.

La Cock contributed a useful 41 from 32 balls before Sandeep Lamichhane trapped him lbw as Nepal’s bowlers put the brakes on after a lively start from the Namibians. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton came in at the fall of the fourth wicket with the score on 98.

The 21-year-old left-handler stayed firm with Erasmus, JJ Smit and David Wiese all fell while he was at the crease. He was eventually out in the 45th over having scored 60 from 70 balls, dismissed by Sompal Kami in the third caught and bowled dismissal of the innings.

Nambia were bowled out for 220, with Sandeep Lamichhane the leading Nepal bowler, taking 4-54 with his leg-breaks.

Nepal’s reply often saw them unable to put together a decent partnership, with the fifth wicket partnership of 45 between Dev Khanal and Aarif Sheikh the only one to pass 30.

Sheikh batted from the 18th over until the end of the innings but was only able to score 50 from 84 balls against some tight Namibian bowling. They were eventually bowled out for 180, losing by 40 runs.

Nepal will next be in action on Wednesday when they play hosts Scotland, whilst Namibia have two days rest before their next fixture, also against Scotland.
