After yesterday’s rest day, play resumed today in Group B of the CWC Challenge League in Uganda with the hosts playing Hong Kong and Jersey coming up against Kenya.

Jersey captain Chuggy Perchard won the toss and chose to bat first at the Lugogo Oval in Kampala, and it soon looked to be a good decision as Harrison Carlyon and Nick Greenwood put together an opening partnership of 81, the partnership ending when Carlyon was out for 31.

Greenwood went on to top score with 66 with Josh Lawrenson also making over fifty with a knock of 55. Anthony Hawkins-Kay batted well at the end of the Jersey innings with an unbeaten 38 as they scored 275, the last wicket falling from the last ball of their 50 overs.

Kenya were quickly reduced to 22-4 early on in their reply. Rakep Patel top scored with 86, but the next highest score was 21. Anthony Hawkins-Kay took 5-18 with Chuggy Perchard taking 3-23 as Kenya were bowled out for 179, losing by 96 runs.

Over at the Kyambogo ground, hosts Uganda also won the toss and chose to bat first, but were bowled out for just 94. Ronak Patel top scored with 35 but there was only one other double digit score for the home side. Ehsan Khan was the pick of the Hong Kong bowlers with 4-17.

Hong Kong lost four wickets in their reply but were otherwise untroubled as they chased down their target in 21.5 overs to win by six wickets.

There will be two more matches tomorrow, with Jersey looking to make it three wins from three in this leg when they take on Italy, whilst the hosts will play Bermuda in the other match.
