There was a dramatic and confusing end to the second match of the day, but in the end the spoils were shared to ensure Munster remain unbeaten at the top of the table.

Another rain affected match saw Munster's target reduced from 150 in 18 overs to 138 in 16.

In a tense chase, in which fortunes fluctuated throughout, it all came down to the last over bowled by Josh Little with 8 needed.

Little bowled Tyrone Kane first ball, followed by a dot and a single to Fionn Hand.

7 needed off 3. A scrambled two to long-on followed by a top edge that looked liked going to the boundary but plugged in the soft ground as they settled for another two.

Last ball - 3 needed.

Campher struck it well to long-on but was run out by Little as he tried to come back for the third at the bowlers end.

With rain falling, and gloomy conditions there was uncertainty about whether there should be a super over or not.

The groundstaff brought the covers on, the players looked uncertain, but the umpires decided conditions weren't suitable for the shoot-out, which had to begin within five minutes of the conclusion of the game. Why? Who knows? I'm sure there is a good reason.

Gavin Hoey was Man of the Match for his 39 and two wickets, as Lightning stuttered in their 149 for 8 - Harry Tector (23) and Seamus Lynch (21) both hitting four boundaries in brief cameos.

Gareth Delany (2-18 in 4 overs) the stand-out bowler for Munster.

PJ Moor hit 4 sixes in his 40 - Munster clearing the ropes 9 times in their 16 overs, before being dismissed by Hoey, who had also accounted for Matt Ford.

Kevin O'Brien cleared the ropes twice in his four ball innings, and Curtis Campher also hit two sixes - one of those crucially the ball after being dropped.

Both sides will reflect on what might have been in a topsy-turvy match, but you get the feeling that Munster will be the slightly happier having maintained their unbeaten T20 start.

A huge game then tomorrow in the afternoon, as Munster face Warriors, where a win would make them strong favourites to collect silverware.
