Lisburn are the outright leaders of the Premier League after winning their fifth game of the season and taking advantage of North Down not being in action and an understrength CIYMS side.

North Down and defending league champions Waringstown had their game put back to next Sunday because the Comber side are hosting the T20 festival, while CI have been decimated by the inter-provincials with Mark and Ross Adair and Graham Kennedy all in action while skipper Nigel Jones is coach of Leinster Lightning.

Civil Service North were the lucky team to cash in yesterday, piling up 305 for six with Mark Ellison just missing out on a 60-ball century, after hitting seven fours and six sixes and professional Troy Johnson chipping in with 74.

Chris Dougherty and James Cameron-Dow both got to 50 in the chase but were out almost immediately afterwards and they couldn’t even total 200.

Lisburn had the easiest win of the day as Cregagh continue to find the going tough in their first season in the top flight. They were bowled out for 60 and the league leaders needed less than 14 overs to knock off the runs for the loss of three wickets.

Woodvale moved up to a share of second place with their fourth win, beating the other newcomers, Cliftonville Academy by seven wickets.

Carl Robinson produced the bowling performance of the day for the winners, taking six for 34 and an unbeaten 60 from another of the new faces at Ballygomartin Road, Ronan Restieaux saw his side reach their target of 199 in just the 35th over.

Carrickfergus were set one run more by Instonians at Shaw’s Bridge and they also got home after 60s from Jacques Snyman and CJ van der Walt. The final margin was three wickets with two overs to spare.

In the North West, Bready’s winning run in the League shows no sign of ending.

The champions won every match last year and made it three out of three this season with a thumping 122 runs victory over Fox Lodge, despite Adam Walker taking six wickets.

Bready’s top seven all made double figures but the Foxes, bowled out in the Irish Cup last week for a record low of 29, failed to even double that this time as they lost their last eight wickets for 20.
