Sweden’s women’s team have secured the Nordic Cup after both results went their way today in Kolsva.

The hosts took on Denmark - playing their first matches in five years - in the opening match of day two. Batting first after they won the toss, a 98 run partnership between Kanchan Rana and Abhilasha Singh providing the bulk of their runs.

The pair scored 40 and 43 respectively but were out scored by the 50 extras conceded by the visitors. The final total for Sweden was 159-5. Denmark were then bowled out for 88, losing by 71 runs. Gunjan Shukla was the pick of the bowlers with 4-20.

That result ensured Norway couldn’t win the tournament, but Denmark still had a theoretical chance if they could overcome the Norwegians in the second match of the day, which was reduced by rain to a 15 over contest.

Norway scored 115-1 from their 15 overs, Denmark again conceding 50 extras. The Danes batted out their overs in reply but could only manage 78-4 and lost by 37 runs.

The tournament concludes today with Denmark again playing Sweden and Norway.
