ODI cricket came to Texas for the first time yesterday with Moosa Stadium in Pearland, near Houston, becoming the 213th - and westernmost - venue for the format.

USA captain Monak Patel won the toss and chose to bat first, the match starting with a 67 run opening partnership between Steven Taylor and Sushant Modani, the partnership ending when Taylor was out for 42. Modani went on to score 77, the top score of the USA innings.

Gajanand Singh and Nisarg Patel had a quick fire partnership at the end of the USA innings, putting on 60 in 6.1 overs to take the team total to 310-5. Singh finished on 60 from 39 balls, whilst Patel scored 34 from 20.

Scotland’s reply started poorly as Matthew Cross fell for six in the third over, having scored all of Scotland’s runs at that point. A 54 run partnership between Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLeod offered some hope, but there was no other partnership of note in the Scottish innings.

MacLeod scored 40, though Scotland’s top score was George Munsey’s 54 from 53 balls. The last wicket pairing of Adrian Neill and Hamza Tahir hung on for seven overs at the end of the innings, but they were already out of contention when the partnership started.

Saurabh Netravalkar took 5-45 - the second five wicket haul for the USA in ODIs - as Scotland were bowled out for 206, losing by 104 runs. The two teams meet again today.
