James West had a memorable senior debut, as the 14 year-old took a hat-trick as CSNI beat Cliftonville Academy. In the other game CIYMS edged out Woodvale by six runs at Belmont.

West (3-25) claimed the wickets of Matthew McCord (28), David Reid and Adam Beard as Cliftonville Academy were restricted to 95 for 7.

James West - hat-trick hero.

Ben Adair (3-19) was also in the wickets.

The modest total proved little trouble to CSNI, with Luke Georgeson clearing the ropes five times in his 59 not out from just 32 deliveries.

Chris McMorran (26) was also in the runs as the modest target was passed in the 11th over.

It was an altogether much tighter affair at Belmont where CIYMS just had enough nous to eke out a six-run win over Woodvale.

Chris Dougherty top scored with 40 as the home side posted 144 for 7 - runs too for Keith Dudgeon (28), and Jason van der Merwe (23), while there were three wickets for James Hall (3-20).

Hall went early in the chase, but a second wicket stand of 80 in eight overs between Ruhan Pretorius and Aditya Adey, both of whom made 52 looked to be steering the Ballygomartin side to victory.

However, as they often seem to do, CIYMS managed to claw back into the game, and with their bowling riches claimed a hard-fought six runs win in a tense contest.
