The latest round of CWC League 2 came to a conclusion today as Oman wrapped up the series with a convincing win over bottom of the table Papua New Guinea.

Oman batted first and their runs came from the usual run getters at the top of the order. Jatinder Singh scored 79 from 77 balls. He shared in a 124 run partnership for the second wicket with his captain Zeeshan Maqsood, who himself made a half-century, though his was at a much more sedate pace, coming from 108 balls.

Ayaan Khan thumped an unbeaten 62 at exactly a run a ball, being particularly brutal towards the end of the innings. helping Oman score 75 from the last seven overs including 33 from the last two. The 35 extras conceded by Papua New Guinea didn't help matters either, helping Oman reach a total of 277-8.

Charles Amini scored 60 in Papua New Guinea's reply but, as all too often is the case for PNG, there was no other contribution of note. Bilal Khan took 5-54, his second five wicket haul in ODIs, as they were bowled out for 192, losing by 85 runs.

Oman now have just one series left in CWC League 2, in theory in June in the United States against the hosts and Nepal. Papua New Guinea's next series is currently set to be in September, travelling to Namibia for matches against the hosts and the USA. The next scheduled series is next month as the USA play host to Scotland and the UAE. As always at the moment, don't make any plans based around this - the schedule is very much in flux.
